With such a long list of family-friendly things to do and a relatively mild climate, especially when compared to the rest of the country, it's no surprise that families are flocking to this city to enjoy getaways or to make a move after purchasing one of the Vancouver homes for sale. Family-Friendly Neighborhoods If you're planning on moving to Vancouver, finding a home in a family-friendly neighborhood is key. There are many great options like West Point Grey, one of the oldest in the city. It has a true community feel as the quintessential family neighborhood with great local schools like Queen Mary Elementary, Queen Elizabeth Elementary, and Jules Quesnel Elementary which is known for its outstanding French Immersion program. It's ideal for families who want their kids to learn to speak both of the country's national languages. If you're looking for a top private school, West Point Grey Academy is one of the best. This community also hosts frequent family-friendly events like Point Grey Fiesta which brings live music, crafts, and carnival rides to Trimble Park. Dunbar, Mount Pleasant, and West End are all good neighborhood picks for families too. You Won't Freeze For a Good Portion of the Year Unlike many cities across Canada, temperatures don't drop below freezing often. While it does tend to be rainy, residents can usually enjoy outdoor fun as it tends to drizzle more than pour. And in the summertime it's absolutely idyllic - no high humidity, often just perfectly pleasant temps and abundant sunshine for taking advantage of the mountains, beaches, and vast waterways. That means less time stuck indoors, which is good for everyone. The Arts Scene is Fantastic Culture is important too and if you want to expose your family to top cultural attractions, including art, Vancouver is a wonderful place to be. The art scene is thriving as the city is willing to invest the money, space, and time into its large population of musicians, performers, and visual artists. There's the Vancouver Art Gallery with it's more than 10,000 works of art and countless smaller galleries to explore along with intimate performance venues, more than 50 professional theater companies, and venues dedicated to musical performances and comedy shows. Plus, there's tons of local businesses, like 604 Window Tint, who are proud to call the area home. Endless Outdoor Activities Just Minutes from Downtown The list of outdoor activities available in and near Vancouver is practically endless. In fact, leave your office downtown and you can be on Grouse Mountain for skiing in less than 30 minutes. Only 20 minutes away is Capilano Suspension Bridge Park with hiking trails that wind through lush greenery with views of the roaring Capilano River. Swaying 230 feet above the river is the suspension bridge which stretches for 450 feet, providing a thrill of its own. Of course, in a city surrounded by water, boating, kayaking, sailing, fishing, and just about every other water sport imaginable can be enjoyed just minutes from downtown too. |
