Videos have surely become the new frontier of storytelling. This fact has not been lost on marketers, and the rush to claim this new revenue avenue will only intensify in 2019.

Industry statistics show that video content is not only effective but more and more people are opting for it.

Facebook, Instagram and pretty every other social platform have taken the cue and are
improving their video capabilities.

YouTube is however leading the pack with around 83% of consumers preferring it over
others. That said, YouTube is dynamic and marketers using it to advance their brand
have to keep up with emerging SEO strategies and trends.
Here are some of the latest YouTube marketing trends to follow.

1. 360° Videos

Increasing customer’s interaction with your brand is a sure way to win loyalty. You Tube
360° videos allow you to do just that and much more. The concept has gone viral as
more people want to see every direction involved in making video content. 360° videos
are a combination of virtual reality and normal videos, which customers can see without
the need of special gadget or tools.

These videos are optimized for small screens; this gives them more exposure since
smart phones and other mobile devices are getting a bigger share of users than desktop
monitors. Marketers should make more of these videos and include a call to action
button at the end of the clips.

2. Video Tutorials

Another trend that is making waves in video marketing is video tutorials. More people
are turning to videos for ‘How to …’ searches instead of written content. These
searches can range from how to open a can of tuna to how to file taxes. This is one
user dynamic that marketers can exploit and if done properly it can increase their
revenues.

Start by asking yourself how much of your written content is tutorial-based? If such
content makes up the bulk, then it’s time to have it in video. ‘How to...’ pieces will better
your SEO and having them in video helps to reach more people and especially
millennials. YouTube ranks highest for video searches hence you need to populate your
channel with such content.

Go for content that specifically show how things are done, not boring monologues. Best
marketing practices dictate that pitching a sale should be as natural as possible; get to
know what people want, make a ‘how to’ guide and end the video with your pitch.

3. Trending Channels

Your customers are becoming digital natives every passing year. This should give you
an idea on what topics can be captured in your videos for maximum exposure.

Have you heard of esports?

These are online video competitions that are garnering billions of players and
subscribers every day; it’s the ‘in thing’!

There is a YouTube channel out there for almost everything. Find out which ones can
work for you and find a way of getting your brand involved in their success.
As of September 2018, Ninja ranked highest on video gaming with over 11 million
followers. These are subscribers who could be watching your logo on players’ t-shirts,
your brand on video consoles, players using your merchandise in any way that will
maximize exposure.

You can go a step further and sponsor these online tournaments for more publicity. Get
the players involved and have them send ‘shootouts’ to your brand or marketing
campaign.

4. You Tube Live Video Streaming and Split Screen

Watching YouTube videos has become a favorite pass time activity for most people.
They are interested in seeing interesting clips, giving you a need that can be fulfilled by
being creative with your marketing videos. To humanize your brand further make use of
live streaming. This feature allows you to interact with your subscribers in real time.
Customers get to put a face on the brand and this creates more trust. You can cultivate
this by airing different personnel as they tackle production tasks. Sneak peeks on funny
behind-the-scenes clips will also keep customers glued and talking about you.
You can also use split screens to showcase different live feeds; this You Tube feature
also allows you to do a live voice over on a video that would otherwise be boring.

Conclusion

The above trends are just some of the ways you can make YouTube work for you in
2019. Depending on your marketing budget, start small and do a ROI analysis for all or
a few of these trends, and stick to the best.
